There is a big range of people, both genders, that like crime films. However as I am creating a crime thriller 2 minute scene I will need to take into consideration the target audience to whom watch thriller films not just crime films. I will then combine the two together to create a target audience of my own. Crime thrillers are usually targeted to a mature audience due to the strong language and scenarios (e.g. murders).
Usually when films are released it will attract one gender more than the other fore example; Rom Coms would attract females more than males, and vice versa for Action films such as Die Hard. However Crime drama target audiences are usually aimed at both females and males. The resaon for this being that females like the problems solving side to it, working out who is good or bad etc, and the males would typically be attracted to the film because of an attractive actress(es) starring in it. The certificate is usually a 15 therefore that is where the target audience age range begins from, but the average age of a crime drama viewer is actually 40! So the target audience is both males and females aged between 15 - 40.
Thriller films are also usually rated a 15 because of the violent and frightening content. Thriller films captivate audiences using suspense and mystery, this experience usually attracts young adults (15 - 21 year olds). This age range as we know is the largest group of cinema goers due to their disposable income therefore this genre is most likely to be successful in the box office.
